to school in the city where he lives.
It's Chicago, situated in the north

Jason is fourteen.

"I love the long summer vacation' and never want to go back to school

In Great Britain school begins at the age of 5.
At the age of 5 primary school children go to infant schools or infant classes where they spend two years till they are 11.
In infant schools they spend much time outdoors.
They play different games, run and jump.
They sing song, dance and play a lot.
Infant pupils learn how to get on with other pupils.
Their classes are informal but they learn how to read, count and write a little too.
When children are seven they go to junior schools where they spend four years till they are 11.
Junior schools are real schools.
The atmosphere is more formal in junior classes that in infant classes.
Their subjects are : English, Maths, History, nature study, Geography, Art, and Music, swimming, P.
E. and Religion
But children spend a lot of time outdoors.
They visit different museums and other famous and interesting places.
In some primary schools children wear uniforms but in any primary schools they don't.
So in England children spend six years in primary school.
When pupils are 11 or a little older they go to secondary school where they study until they are 16.
English children have classes five days a week : on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
Saturday and Sunday are their days off.
In England the school year begins on the first Tuesday of September.
Most British schools are mixed and free.
Many boys and girls usually leave school when they are sixteen.
If they want to go to university they study in the sixth form for two more years.

In Australia, many families live a long way from a town, so the nearest school is often far away.
For this reason, many children attend a verydifferent kind of school.
It is called the School of the Air because the students have lessons over the radio.
Most areas have a school like this for children between 4 and 12 years old.
They study at home, but they are still members of a class.
The childrenhave radio lessons with their class three times a week.
Each lesson is about 30 minutes.
Students also have a 10 - minute private lesson with theirteacher once a week.

Some people consider our educational system to be close to perfect ; others say that it is too hard and that it is unnecessary to study all the school subjects.
In Russian schools children have to study about 15—17 subjects — not more and not less, as they are required.
Very rarely do schools have in the schedule special or professional subjects.
In the United States, drama, journalism and photography are as important as chemistry and history.
In our schools the curriculum is strict.
In the USA you can choose what to study ; but government, history, English and math are compulsory.
There are also a number of subjects, like geography, chemistry, physics, biology and computer classes, that you have to take during a year or a half - a - year during your high school years.
You can also take one of these subjects at an advanced level.
A program of chemistry at the advanced level of a graduate class is common with our 9th grade programme.
In Russia we can't study management or TV - production at school.
Such democracy in choosing subjects according to your own preferences makes school life easier and calmer.
American students don't usually have much homework — half an hour of homework is too much for them.
On the other hand, they have holidays only twice a year, and their summer vacations are only two and a half months long, while our children don't study in the summer at all.
Americans study at school for 12 years, while we study only 11.
So it is very hard to say which the best way of studying is.

A group of students came up with the idea of making a school club to help save the environment ?
A group of students came up with the idea of making a school club to help save the environment .
Tanya Brunton , Alicia Morton , Gina Montgomery , Clive Forsyth , Jim O'Sullivan and Carl Johnson created the Nature Madness Club and won the award for the best student work .
At first their club only had 30 members , but word soon got around that Nature Madness was fun and less than a month later they had over 300 students .
Now , they are thinking of asking for the of students from other schools .
Nature Madness members took part in lost of after - school activities .
They took classes to find out about pollution , recycling and conservation .
The whole team helped to make the classes more interesting by using pictures and videos and so on .
After that, the members organised different events and activities such as recycling or clean - up days, planting trees, and helping stray animals.
The mayor gave each student a gold medal for their good work .
Their teacher, Barbara Mac Alpine , said at the ceremony , "I'm very proud of my students .
They show that you don't have to wait until you're grown up to do important things.
"
