If we continue to burn and cut down the rainforests as we are doing now, the earth will never be the same again.
Another big problem is water pollution.

These simple pleasures may soon become a thing of the past.
Factories are polluting our rivers and lakes with dan¬gerous chemicals.
Oil tankers are releasing thick, black oil into our oceans.

Consequently, sea life is threatened with extinction.
Air pollution is another important issue.
The cars and factories in and around our cities are giving off dangerous fumes.
In the past few years, more and more people than ever before have developed allergies and breathing problems.
If we don't do something now, our cities will become impossible to live in.
Fortunately, it is not too late to solve these problems.
We have the time, the money and even the technology to prepare the way for a better, cleaner and safer future.
We can plant trees and adopt animals.
We can create parks for endangered species.
We can put pressure on those in power to take action.
Together we can, save our planet.
All we need to do is open our eyes and act immediately.

The Animal World of Russia
Russia is large and rich not only¹ in its territories — moun¬tains, seas, rivers and forests.
The plant and animal worlds of our country are very rich too.
We’ve got lots of different animals and birds, trees and flowers.
You can find wolves and bears, foxes and hares, squirrels and hedgehogs in our forests.
Large and powerful elks live there too.
Reindeer live in the north of Russia, tigers in the Far East.
All Russian people know the names of these animals.
You can
meet them in Russian fairy tales too.
Strong bears, clever
hares, sly² foxes are favourite heroes³ of tales and fables.

They are the air and ocean water.
But people all over the world are concerned about very important things.
The problem is that the nature is damaged gereatly and needs protection.
Marry lips sailing in ocean waters pollute the water.
Polluting ocean waters leads to reducing of speeies of its animals, as they are dying of contamination.
Or contaminated fish can be caught in the sea by a fishberman and sold in markets.
Eating contaminated fish may affect man`s health.
Pollution of air results in destroying of the ozone layer, which protects the Earth from the dangerous light of the Sun.
It also causes acid rains that damage the resources and wildlife affecting the balance of nature.
Our forests are dying from acid rains, many species of animals and plants are under threat of disappearing.
The most serious danger arising from damaging the environment is the result of above mentioned consequences.
This is the danger for the life and health of man.
If we are unable to learn to use the environment carefully and protect it from damage caused y man`s activity, very soon we`ll have no world to ive in.
If we want our children to live in the same world we live in, or a better and healthier one, we must learn to protect the water, the air and the earth from pollution.
