Grown - ups remember it with excitement and happiness.
The wish they were teenagers again.
However, most teenagers won’t agree with this point of view if they were asked.
They're sure that they are facing a lot of difficult problems and that's quite true.
B. Smoking has become one of the most important problems for modern teenagers.
About 40 percent of teenagers are attracted by the bright cigarette advertisement.
It seems they just don't realize the harm it does to their health, because advertisements show smoking as something positive.
They really believe that smoking will make them look like they're cool and grown - up.
C. In fact, teenagers have got a lot of work.
They're busy with their studies, household chores, some of them have jobs.
They can’t even find a moment to entertain themselves at times.
It’s a more serious problem especially for those who are responsible and want to be successful students and good children.
D. The problem number one for most young people is between fathers and sons.
All young people want to be independent, they want their parents to listen to their opinion.
As for parents, they want to control their children’s lives.
At the same time some parents can’t find a common language with their kids and simply don’t pay enough attention to them.
E. They say that all teenagers want to have a lot of money to dress well, to go to theatres, to visit foreign countries, to eat what they want and to buy books.
But how can they do all these things?
They have to get some money and it’s possible to do it.
Some teenagers wash cars, others sell newspapers, help elderly people and babysit.
F. School ages are also very difficult.
Children are always stressed because of their marks at school.
It seems to teenagers that they do a lot of homework, but mothers and fathers are never satisfied.
They want their children to have the highest marks at school.
Teenagers do their best, but adults are never happy.
They always want more.
G. There are many organizations which unite young people.
Teenagers get together because of common interests and beliefs.
Members of every organisations have their own attitudes to the world.
There are some informal clubs, for example : emos, hippies, panks, and so on.
However, some teenagers choose to join more serious groups like Greenpeace.

A family is an essential part of our society.
A family is a little world.
According to researches, households of three or even four generations will become typical.
Firstly a family has things shared together like dreams, hopes and possessions.
I think it is great.
Besides, we need a family for comfort and protection.
Secondly a family is a place where they respect dwellers, a place where all members can enjoy the dignity of their own.
Some people say that privacy is impossible in an extended family.
But in my opinion trust is more important for a happy family than any other feature.
There are a lot of problems in an extended family, especially between brothers and sisters.
They always treat one another badly.
Of course, if you have a lot of brothers and sisters, there will be no privacy.
But on the other hand, when you have no brothers or sisters, life becomes boring.
There are a lot of problems and conflicts that appear between teenagers and their parents.
They don't understand each other.
Parents always want their children to be clever and learn harder.
They don't bother themselves to understand their children.
They are always glad when their children have trouble with things that are very valuable for them.
Parents always cheat teenagers.
They say that school is very important for us and to enter an institute we should have good marks in our school - leaving certificates.
But it's not what the children want.
I think that it is necessary to bridge the generation gap, and parents and children must come to an agreement.

On the one hand, our society agrees that 15 - 17 - yearold people are old enough to be responsible for what they do and dive them quite a lot of freedom and rights.
On the other hand, most adults think that teenagers are too young to be taken seriously.
This misunderstaning produced many problems.
Actually, a lot of teenagers say that their parents let them do anything they want and are quite indifferent to their problems.
Many teenagers get upset or depressed whrn they can't dissolve their problems.
As a result, it makes them believe that there is only one way out - to stop living and commit suicide.
No doubt, the teens' problems wil increase.

We represent the Young Journalists Club and we would be happy to publish some of our articles in your journal.
The topics we
study refer to teenagers' life.
We run different surveys and questionnaires which help understand what teenagers are interested in,
what they care for, and what they are indifferent to.
Most of our research is on political and cultural issues, and we want to find out
how competent contemporary teenagers are in those topics.
We certainly don't ignore environmental issues and human rights
problems and try to display a wide diversity of views and opinions.
Lately we've been studying the TV topic, i.
E. (то есть) what teenagers watch on TV and what TV programmes they enjoy.
Forty
teenagers, aged 14 - 16, were interviewed, and we got some curious results.
Here are some of them.
About 35% of the interviewed said that they don't watch the news at all.
“I don't watch the news, ” said Julia Smith, one of the
typical representatives of that group, "they speak either about wars or terrorist attacks.
If I watch it, I feel down and scared.

65% watch the news occasionally and randomly, and were not able to name any programme they trust.
They confuse Presidents
and Prime Ministers, and they are not sure about the regions of armed conflicts, and don't know what the word "summit" means.
However, about half of our respondents mentioned that they would like to feel more confident about political issues, and that it would
be useful to have some classes on political literacy (грамотность) in the school curriculum (учебный план).
The survey revealed some unexpected things.
For example, most teenagers are not really keen on thrillers and action films.
They
say that they prefer point - and - shoot computer games to action films.
As for TV, about 60% of our respondents claim that they would like to see more educational, cultural and popular science films
on TV.
Scientific breakthroughs, new technologies, mysteries of the past and the present, ancient civilisations are very welcome.
These topics have always been a great attraction for teenagers of all generations.
