Dear Editor,

We represent the Young Journalists Club and we would be happy to publish some of our articles in your journal.

The topics we

study refer to teenagers' life.

We run different surveys and questionnaires which help understand what teenagers are interested in,

what they care for, and what they are indifferent to.

Most of our research is on political and cultural issues, and we want to find out

how competent contemporary teenagers are in those topics.

We certainly don't ignore environmental issues and human rights

problems and try to display a wide diversity of views and opinions.

Lately we've been studying the TV topic, i.

E. (то есть) what teenagers watch on TV and what TV programmes they enjoy.

Forty

teenagers, aged 14 - 16, were interviewed, and we got some curious results.

Here are some of them.

About 35% of the interviewed said that they don't watch the news at all.

“I don't watch the news, ” said Julia Smith, one of the

typical representatives of that group, "they speak either about wars or terrorist attacks.

If I watch it, I feel down and scared.

, so.

I

don't watch it at all.

"

65% watch the news occasionally and randomly, and were not able to name any programme they trust.

They confuse Presidents

and Prime Ministers, and they are not sure about the regions of armed conflicts, and don't know what the word "summit" means.

However, about half of our respondents mentioned that they would like to feel more confident about political issues, and that it would

be useful to have some classes on political literacy (грамотность) in the school curriculum (учебный план).

The survey revealed some unexpected things.

For example, most teenagers are not really keen on thrillers and action films.

They

say that they prefer point - and - shoot computer games to action films.

As for TV, about 60% of our respondents claim that they would like to see more educational, cultural and popular science films

on TV.

Scientific breakthroughs, new technologies, mysteries of the past and the present, ancient civilisations are very welcome.

These topics have always been a great attraction for teenagers of all generations.

In conclusion we would like to thank you for the time you gave to our letter.

If you find our topics of some interest to your journal

and your readers, we would be happy to present the full texts of our projects and articles, and discuss our possible cooperation.

Sincerely yours,

Martine Swift

. We represent the Young Journalists' Club and we are looking to collaborate with organizations and individuals who are interested in publishing, promoting or displaying our articles and materials.

Though most of the members of the club are amateur journalists, we do the job very professionally and you can see our articles not only on internet blogs but in reputed journals as well (the list is below).

We research teenagers' lives in order to understand what today's youth are interested in, what they care for, and what, on the contrary, they are indifferent to.

We carry out surveys and questionnaires, analyse related statistics which make our conclusions reliable and focused.

The articles we prepare comprise politics and culture, environmental issues and human rights problems ; they may be controversial as we try to display the diversity of views and opinions.

If you think you may find our articles of some interest, we would be happy to discuss any form of collaboration.

Just to give you some idea of the materials we have, we'll share some of our recent findings :

Найдите глаголы и определите время и залог

The Government surveys show that every fifth teenager who was arrested for criminal actions, was younger that 14 and couldn't be sent to prisin.

Almost half of teenagers have an experience with drugs, alcohol and sex under age of 16.

A lot of teenagers who have drug or alcohol addiction almost never believe that they are dependent.

These thinga are often combined with family and school problems.

What has gone wrond& Some specialists explane that the changes of our society, the system of our life force young people to choose their own lifestyle.

On the one hand, our society agrees that 15 - 17 - yearold people are old enough to be responsible for what they do and dive them quite a lot of freedom and rights.

On the other hand, most adults think that teenagers are too young to be taken seriously.

This misunderstaning produced many problems.

Actually, a lot of teenagers say that their parents let them do anything they want and are quite indifferent to their problems.

Many teenagers get upset or depressed whrn they can't dissolve their problems.

As a result, it makes them believe that there is only one way out - to stop living and commit suicide.

No doubt, the teens' problems wil increase.

And young people should fell that they are cared for.

The Child Play and Development Centre “Indigo Kids”, that was opened only two years ago in our town, has already gained a great popularity with children, teenagers and the parents.

We provide services to children from two till nineteen and everyone can find activities they like.

There are special groups for very young learners.

Supervised by caring adults, two and three - year - olds experience the fun of learning and joy of discovery.

They play with developmental toys and learn communication and socializing skills via play.

They learn to draw and paste, find out about different colours and shapes.

The parents are encouraged to take part in our activities and they always enjoy it!

Children of school age can participate in many activities too.

Kids who love music and want to learn to play a musical instrument can just come and they’ll never be disappointed.

Kids who would like to do sports are very welcome too.

If you like neither, but enjoy reading, this is the right place for you anyway, as there’s a wonderful library and we also have a Drama Society.

There are also a Computer Design laboratory and Computer Club.

Each child is placed in a group that most nearly meets the individual interests and abilities of the child.

We want our learning environment to be stress - free, so children are encouraged to progress at their own pace, providing them a sense of self - confidence.

We believe that all kids should spend a lot of time outdoors.

So, if the weather conditions are fine, the children play in our well - equipped playground.

On rainy days, they use our indoor sports facilities.

It’s quite natural that our active and healthy children work up a good appetite.

However, the parents don’t need to worry about lunchboxes and sandwiches.

All meals and snacks are provided in the centre’s cafeteria.

We offer only fresh and healthy food that meets all nutritional requirements for children and teenagers.

The parents are allowed to participate in the Centre’s activities.
