He wanted to get some life insurance.
The manager of the company wanted to ask him a couple of questions.
The young man agreed to answer them.
When asked about the health of his mother, the man said that she had had problems with her health all her life.
About his father he told that he had heart : problems.
The manager was sorry to hear that and asked at what age the man's parents had died.
He answered that they had died at an early age : mother at 35 and father at 40.
The manager sighed and refused to give the man any life insurance.
When the man was leaving the office, another * manager came up to him.
He advised the young man not to be so honest with people and use his imagination.
The young man went to another insurance company.
The manager immediately asked him about the health of his parents and about the age when they died.
But this time the young man was ready with an answer.
He told the manager that his mother had been very keen on sports.
She died when she was ninety because she fell off her bike.
And about the father he told that he had been ninety - nine.
He died while he was playing football.
He had missed the ball and was very upset about it.
The manager gave a big smile and agreed to give him some life insurance immediately.

He was born at Tintagel Castle.
The king wanted to protect his son from attack by the Saxons.
He decided to give Arthur to his wizard Merlin.
Merlin sent Arthur away to the countryside.

He never knew who his realy parents were.
Years later king Uther died.
Nobody knew he had son.
Everybody was arguing about who would be the new King of Britain.
Suddenly a mysterious stone appeared in the churchyard of St Paul 's Cathedral in London.
There was a message on the sword.
It said "the person who pulls the sword from the stone is the King of Britain".
Everybody was excited.
Lots of knights and princes tried to pull the sword out of the stone, but nobody was strong enough to do it.
It was completely stuck.
It was impossible to move the sword.
Years later, when Arthur was fifteen years old, his older brother Kay was learning to be a knight.
He went to his first tournament in London.
He was going to learn to use his sword.
Arthur looked everywhere, but he couldn't find Kay's sword.
Arthur went to look for another sword.
He went to St Paul 's Cathedral and in the churchyard he saw the sword in the stone.
He tried to pull it out and it came out easily.
He gave the sword to his brother.

Nowadays everybody knows that the word America means.
First of all it is the name of the country - the United States of America or just America.
And then America is the name of the two continents - North America and South America.

We don't know much about the man.

In 1492 the king and the queen of Spain gave him money to go to India.
He decided to sail West as he was sure that our planet is round.
And after sailing 4000 miles - 6400 km he reached some land.
Columbus thought that it must be India.
But it was not.
It was a new land - a new continent.
It was America - Central America, in fact.
People began to speak about the land as - the new world.

The second half of the 19th century is marked by the growth of realistic tendencies in American literature.
The most outstanding American author of this period is Mark Twain.
Mark Twain's real name was Samuel Clemens.
He spent his boyhood in Hannibal on the Mississippi River.
He told about his boyhood in the book “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.
When he was 12, his father died and the boy had to earn his own living.
He worked as a printer and afterwards as a pilot on the Mississippi River.
America, as it was in fact, passed before his eyes.
He was beginning to know his country.
He was 27 when his first sketches and stories began to appear under his pen - name - Mark Twain.
Soon Mark Twain was acknowledged as the best short story writer in America.
He published, with great success, "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", "The Innocents Abroad", "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn", "The Prince and the Pauper", etc.
Mark Twain started as a humorist.
In many of his stories and pamphlets he is a just and severe critic of capitalist America.
He shows the power of gold that rules the country, the hypocrisy and ignorance of the ruling classes and exposes the social injustice of America.
Mark Twain visited Russia as a journalist.
He was fascinated by Yalta.
The Crimean Mountains reminded him of his favourite Sierra Nevada range, and he wrote in his diary that he wished he could speak Russian.
