( Если не трудно помогите грамотно и правильно ответить на вопросы)THE BOSTON TEA PARTY

1 The early English settlements in America were founded by small groups of people, like the Mayflower emigrants.

These colonies grew larger and became important factors in Britain's struggle for greater role in the world.

They gave Britain different materials and much money.

From the mid - 1700s relations between Britain and the 13 British colonies on the east cost of North America began to break down.

After the British defeated France in the Seven Years War in 1763, they tried to exert more power over the colonies.

The colonies had no right to trade with other nations than England.

They also had to pay duty on everything imported by England to the colonies from other countries.

At the same time the American colonies themselves were becoming stronger and were establishing their own industry, agriculture and trade.

They ignored many rules introduced by the British Parliament, which did not let them trade with other nations.

The colonies did not want to pay the duties on products brought from Britain and her other colonies.

They were especially against the duty on all tea imported into colonies, and duties on some other less important products like paper.

So late in 1773, when the colonists learned that seven British ships carrying tea were on their way to New York, Boston and other ports, they decided that the tea duty was not going to be paid and that the tea was not going to be landed.

When the first ship, the Dartmouth, reached Boston, a meeting was called to discuss the problem and decide what to do.

2 At the meeting the Americans decided not to take this tea and made a plan.

Fifty Boston men dressed as Indians and after dark climbed up the sides of the Dartmouth and two other ships which had already reached Boston and threw the boxes of tea into water.

This incident was named the Boston Tea Party.

What had happened at Boston was greeted by other colonies.

All of them were beginning to understand that they could develop better without a mother country.

Many people began to think that they would have to fight for their rights.

These people were called Patriots.

The next year the leaders of the colonies called a meeting to discuss relations with Britain.

It was held m Philadelphia, in September, 1774.

At this meeting, which was called the Continental Congress, the colonies' problems were discussed for many days.

In the end the Congress decided .

To send a letter to London asking the Government to respect the rights of the colonists in America ; but there was no change for the better.

So the patriots understood that the Congress hadn't helped them much and they would have to fight for their rights.

Preparations for the war, which cost Britain its American Empire, began.

It was the war for the independence of American colonies from British rule.

It is rather difficult to understand the british way of ruling the country?

It is rather difficult to understand the british way of ruling the country.

In Britain the Queen is the Head of State, but in fact she doesn't rule the country as she has no power.

The Queen is the symbol of the country, its history and its traditions .

She is very rich.

She travels about the United Kingdom, meets different people and visits schools , hospitals and other special places.

So do all the members of the royal families : the Queens husband, her son Prince Charles, the Queen, s daughter Princess Anne and Princess Margaret, the Queen, s sister.

At the beginning of the 20th century many countries all over the world were ruled by Britain.

Among them were British Empire.

India , Pakistan and Ceylon, for example, were also partof the Empire.

Now these countries independent states.

But in 1949 Britain and the former colonies founded the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth and the Queen of Canada , Australia and New Zeland.

The real power in the country belongs to the British Parliament and to the British Government.

The British Parliament has two houses : the house of Communs and the house of Lords.

The house of Lords does not have much power but it is very important as it can discuss and change laws, it can delay laws too.

The house Commons makes laws about the police of the country , taxes and many other things.

The members of the Hous of Lords are not elected , the are selected.

These members are permanent.

They are often aristocrats, people of the church, lawyers and politicians or life peers.

The members of the House of Commons are elected.

The British people elect 650 members of the House of Commons every five years

Составьте пожалуйста 10 вопросов на английском по тексту : George Washington was the first President of the USA?

Составьте пожалуйста 10 вопросов на английском по тексту : George Washington was the first President of the USA.

He was horn on 22 February 1732 into the family of a rich Virginia landowner.

In his early twenties, Washington took part in the war which the British Empire was fighting against France for the new territories in America.

This was later called the French and Indian War.

Washington fought bravely, but he didn't stay in the British army.

He was very unhappy about how badly the American officers were being treated by the British generals.

In 1765 the British government decided to make the Americans pay taxes, but they forgot about the independent spirit of the colonists, whose ancestors had travelled across the ocean to find liberty and independence.

Although the tax wasn't high and the colonists could afford to pay it easily, they were angry when they heard about the new law.

The colonies were not even represented in the British Parliament, so nobody asked their opinion about the new taxes.

The Americans then decided to boycott British goods.

"No taxation without representation" were the words repeated by all the Americans.

So a war between Great Britain and its American colonies was about to start, but nobody could ever imagine that it would all begin over tea.

It happened in 1773 when British ships loaded with tea and guarded by warships came into Boston Harbour.

The tea had to be unloaded and the tax on it had to be paid by midnight on December 16, 1773.

The Bostonians decided that they were not going to accept the tea and were not going to pay the tax on it.

At night, just before the deadline, the colonists dressed as Indians quietly climbed up into the ships.

They opened the boxes of tea and emptied them all into the harbour.

They called this the Boston Tea Party, and it becEime the first in a line of events that led America to separate finally from the British Empire.

At that time Washington, who had retired from the army, was enjoying a peaceful life as a landowner on his family's estate near Mount Vernon.

But this peaceful life didn't last long because the Revolutionary War with Great Britain broke out soon after the Boston Tea Party.

As a leader of Virginia's opposition to British colonial policies, Washington took an active part in the First and the Second Continental Congresses in 1774 and 1775 - 1776.

At that time the Congress was a kind of American government which consisted of delegates from all of the thirteen colonies.

The Second Congress chose Washington as head of the colonists' army.

Washington found himself with a force of 14, 000 badly trained men, who had no discipline and quickly lost their morale when things went wrong.

But their leader didn't lose hope ; he decided to train his army and took advice from more experienced generals.

His efforts were not in vain ; in 1781 America won a six - vear - long war and in 1783 peace with Great Britain was signed.

Although the victory made George Washington a national hero, he dreamed about getting back to his farm in Mount Vernon.

However, his authority was badly needed again when the young country was faced with new problems after the war.

The independent states disagreed on many questions, and wanted to have their own laws and make their own decisions.

The Congress was so weak that it was ignored both at home and abroad.

It was clear that America j needed a stronger central government.

In 1787 Congress asked each state to send delegates to a "constitutional convention" to discuss the situation.

Washington presided over the convention, and the delegates worked out a completely new system of government.

They called this system the Constitution of the United States.

In 1789 when it came to choosing the head of state, everybody voted for Washington.

As the first President, Washington had to make a lot of important decisions for the first time.

Washington set up a lot of political institutions, decided on where to have the American capital, which was given his name, and ordered the building of the White House, the home of all American presidents ever since.

For all the great things that he did Americans call him "the Father of our Country".

ПЕРЕВОД ТЕКСТА (НЕ В ПЕРЕВОДЧИКЕ, ПОЖАЛУЙСТА) The Dutch were the first Europeans to visit Australia.

Many navigators found themselves on the west coast of Australia.

But the Dutch did not know how Far East the land stretched, and in 1642 Capitain Abel Tasman was sent out discover what lay in the east.

Tasman sailed too far south and didn't see the mainland , but he visited the island now called Tasmania in his honour.

No careful explorations of the continent were made for another century or so.

Then in 1770 the English captain Jamec Cook named it New South Wales and reported back to England that much of New South Wales looked good for settlement.

In London the british government thouth it was a good place to send their convicts.

In may , 1787, the first group of convicts and a few soldiers(11 ships and 500 men) made the trip from England to Australia.

Life was very difficult for the early convicts.

The colonists depended on ships from England for all their food and supplies.

Farming was difficult.

It was at this time that people began breeding fine merino sheep for their wool.

Later the wool important industry.

Many convicts earned their freedom and stayed on in Australia.

A lot of free English settlers saw the opportunities of the new continent, several free colonies were founded at the beginning of the 19th century.

The six early colonies grew and became states of modern Australia : New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania (the island state).

The independent colonies soon understood the need to act together on certain matters, they began to see the need for unification.

The constitution was written and approved by the British Crown, and on January 1, 1901 the six separate colonies became states in the new commonwealth of australia.
