Ответьте на вопросы ниже, отметив правильный вариант.

Ruth, England

Good transportation?

Not really because I'm from a small village but then if you actually go into the town itself, then things aren't too bad.

There's quite a good bus system and you can get there easily on the train.

We don't have a tram or anything like that but we don't need one.

It's not very big anyways so we have enough transportation for all of our needs.

Akane, Canada

Does your hometown have a good transportation?

Well, my hometown is Toronto and I would say that it does have a good transportation system.

The highway system is quite extensive and there are buses and subway systems and long distance trains throughout.

It may not be as convenient as some other countries like England or Japan, but I do think Toronto has the best transportation system in Canada.

Jeyong, South Korea

I'm from Seoul, Korea and "Yes" we have a good transportation because we have a lot of buses and we have a very convenient subway which almost goes around places around Seoul area, and outside of Seoul, so basically you can reach any place by riding the subway, and buses, even though there's a big traffic, still I think it's very comfortable.

Naomi, Australia

There's actually not very good transportation in my hometown because it's very quite rural.

You definitely need your own car to get around.

I have a car in my hometown to get me around because actually it's on top of a mountain so there's no trains and there's only an occasional bus which is very expensive to use.

Silva, Ireland

The transport in my hometown isn't too bad.

I live quite near to the capital so there is a train that runs in and out from there.

There are buses as well that run into Dublin city but sometimes they can be late or delayed.

Answer the following questions about the interview.

1. What's an easy way to get to Ruth's town?

A) By tram

b) By train

2.

When would Akane travel by train?

A) If she is not going far

b) If she's going a long distance

3.

Where can Jeyong go in the subway?

A) Only outside the city

b) Almost anywhere

4.

Naomi lives in __________.

A) The city

b) The country

5.

What problems does Silva have with buses?

A) They aren't always on time

b) They are too expensive.

My opinion is that different countries and places have different conditions.

In some countries and localities, there are more people and residential buildings, and of course there are more conditions for getting to any place.

And in villages, towns, and the like, there are fewer people, respectively, and transport goes less often and less.

That is, if you live in a city or metropolis, then you should not have any problems with transport, and if you are in a village, then you may have problems with the road.

1. My opinion in our city there are no beautiful places, but still there is a place that I like this park.

I like to go out there with friends or family.

Time flies very quickly and merrily there.

And the rest of the places in my city I do not like they are boring and not at all for recreation.

Read the text and answer the questions.

KALAHARI DESERT Deserts cover about a fifth of the world's land area.

The Kalahari Desert covers most of Botswana, parts of Namibia and stretches into South Africa.

It is one of the world's largest deserts and it is four times the size of Britain, In the daytime, it is extremely hot, but at night it is cold.

The Kalahari does not have many plants and most of the animals that live there can survive underground.

This is because of the heat during the day, but they come out at night when it is cool.

However, the climate is changing and this desert does not have as much rain as it did a few years ago.

Experts say that the wind is becoming stronger, too.

This means that the sand is moving around the desert is actually getting bigger.

In fact, the sand might soon cover large areas of farm land READING Unfortunately, this could mean that the poorest people might have an even harder time surviving in the desert.

Most of them might have to move to a better place.

1. In which continent is the Kalahari Desert?

2. How big is Kalahari Desert?

3. Where do most of the animals in the Kalahari live?

4. Why is the Kalahari Desert getting bigger?

5. Why might the people who live there have to move somewhere else?

We are all thinking about our holidays this time of the year, so to help you prepare, here is the list of top things you must not leave without.

1 documents 5 guidebook

2 swimwear 6 money

3 medication 7 good book

4 sun lotion 8 clothes

a.

An all important requirement that you must not forget, especially if it's prescribed as it might not be easy to get hold of abroad.

The last thing you want is to feel ill or worried on your holiday.

B . This will save you a lot of time because you won't be deciding what you want to do for half the da ' before eventually agreeing on something.

It's a great way to find out about the culture and traditions of the area that you are going to be staying in.

C. Please don't forget these, especially if your tickets and your passports are kept together with them!

D . Remember not to pack too much!

It's a good idea to lay everything out on your bed that you want to pack and then be really ruthless and only take what you really need!

E. Applicable to so many holidays as the weather does get hot sometimes and your skin can burn.

Even if you're going on a ski holiday, you still need to bring it as the rays of the sun reflect off the snow making it even more dangerous.

F . Where would we be without at least some cash?

Of course, you can take your credit card with you, but it is essential to carry a small amount of cash.

Telephone calls, bottles of water, sweets, etc are all small purchases that are better paid with cash.

G . OK, so you will be on holiday, but that doesn't mean you have every moment planned.

You may want to relax before going to bed.

You can also read on the beach, or while travelling.

H. Nearly always essential even if you're not going to the beach, as some hotels in the cities might have swimming pools.

You'll only envy the other people enjoying the water if you don't bring yours along.

London, the capital of Great Britain, is a big city.

It covers more than 600 square miles

and consists of 33 separate boroughs, including the City, the West End, the East End and

houses over 12 million people.

They say, big cities are not always different.

Modern buildings, modern shops and

stores, hotels and cinemas look alike in today's cities.

But some things you can only see in

London.

What are they?

In London you find Beefeaters and Pearly Kings and Queens.

You

find Covent Garden and Madam Tussaud's.

Britain has more living symbols of its past than many other countries, and its capital

boasts many ancient buildings like the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, or St.

Paul's Cathedral.

London is a royal city.

The British King or Queen has a palace there - Buckingham

Palace.

Queen Elizabeth lives there now.

Tourist can see the everyday ceremony called "the

Changing of the Guard".

Every day a new guard of thirty guardsmen marches to the palace

and take the place of the "old guard".

The Tower of London, built in 1078 by William the Conqueror to protect the city, is

an interesting place with its Beefeaters and the| Crown Jewels.

The Imperial State Crown is

one of the Crown Jewels in the Jewel House in the Tower of London.

It has 3000 stones in it :

diamonds, red rubies, blue sapphires, and beautiful pearls.

The Queen wears it on state

occasions.

Then it goes back to the Tower.

The Beefeaters guard Tower and the Crown

Jewels, and they help visitors.

London is a city, but to Londoners 'the City' is a place in London.

The banks and big

companies have their head offices there.

City offices are in tall modern buildings, or in old

buildings on narrow streets.

The office people do not live in the City, they come to the City

every day, from Monday to Friday.

Five important streets meet at Piccadilly Circus in London's 'West End'.

The cars, the

tourist coaches, the red London buses, and the taxis go round a statue there.

It is not a statue

of a famous man or woman.

People don't remember the statue's real name.

They say : 'It's

Eros, the Greek god of love'.

Piccadilly Circus is a very busy place.

It is busy day and night.

People come here to the shops in the day time, and at night they come for a night out.

They

can eat in one of the restaurants in the West End near Piccadilly Circus.

They can get food

from twenty different countries in West End restaurants.

Londoners, and visitors, can go to a theatre in the West End, or to a concert, to an

opera or a ballet.

And there are fifty cinemas near Piccadilly Circus.

West End hosts

museums and galleries, among them are the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery, the National

Portrait Gallery and the British Museum.

The 'East End' is the area of London where people from abroad have come to find

work.

It is especially famous as the centre of the clothing industry in London and as a market

place.

Every Sunday morning it becomes one of the sights of London.

London is packed with interest and it's all in colour.

So whether you're new to the city, or

you've visited it before there will be something exciting in London.

Срочно помогите Mellish school is in theslumsof Brooklyn for pupils between twelve and fifteen years of age.

There are about 1500 pupils there, and 90 teachers.

It’s a problem school, perhaps one of the most difficult schools in America.

The white teachers can’t walk to the school because they may be attacked.

They all drive to school, and their cars have speciallocks.

There’s always a black policeman at the door of the school.

He has a radio contact with the schoolguards.

Pupils must have a writtenpermissionfrom the teacher if they want to go to the toilet.

There’s a guard outside the washroom.

Only one child can go into the washroom at a time, and he can’t stay there long.

The children who live in that district go to that school.

They are all black children.

However, why do the teachers work there?

“It’s very hard of course, ” says Jane Flinch, a forty - five - year - old teacher.

Most children have problems at home.

Some of them are beaten by their parents.

Some of them sleep at the lessons because they had to work at night.

Some of the children get sick at the lessons because they didn’t have breakfast or even a meal for a day or two.

It’s the love of the job that keeps the teachers in that school.

They teach and do social work.

They feel that they are doing something good for the children who need help.

“There’s also the problem of violence, ” says one of the teachers.

“Sometimes when I go into a class, I can feel that some of the children are like a dynamite.

However, I feel quite safe.

I am sure that other pupils will help me.

” There is very little money for teaching in that school.

There is no money to buy food for the children.

The principal of the school has been there for many years.

A lot of his happy optimism has gone.

“No, I’m not optimistic about the future.

Look around you, ” he says and points out of the window at the high wall round the school.

”It’s not a very bright sight : buildings have holes instead of the windows, shops are closed, groups of people are sitting on the steps of the houses.

They have nowhere to go and nothing to do.

“We need money, ” he says, “money is the only way to help this school and these people, and, of course, jobs for the people.

In industrially developed countries there is a tendency for people to leave big overcrowded cities and move to the countryside where they find peace , quiet and an unpolluted environment ?

In industrially developed countries there is a tendency for people to leave big overcrowded cities and move to the countryside where they find peace , quiet and an unpolluted environment .

So what is wrong with cities ?

Only a few decades ago they seemed to be so attractive .

A lot of people will tell you that life in big cities is really stressful.

The city centres are full of busy and noisy activity day and night and the suburbs are usually dull , overcrowded and tend to have criminal problems .

The roads in towns and cities have become unsafe especially during the rush hours when drivers and their passengers waste time in traffic jams .

Besides , not all parts of big cities look beautiful , some of them actually look quite ugly with similar high - rise crowded buildings .

On the other hand, some other parts of towns and cities may look fantastically picturesque.

There is always a lot to see and to do in towns and cities .

They offer many more job opportunities than a small place in the country .

They have a good choice of schools , universities , libraries , museums and theatres .

To sum up , i can say that both towns and the countryside have their own attractive features .

So people should be able to decide what lifestyle is closer to them.
