My college life
My name is Alex.
I study at the Forest College.
I am a full - time student.
I am in my first year now.
There are full - time and part - time departments in our college.
The academic session lasts 10 months.
Our college trains specialists in many branches of knowledge.
There are four specialty in the college : “Forest and park management”, “Technical exploitation of the lifting, transport, building and road machines and equipment”, “Landscape gardening and landscape construction” and “Hunting and fur farming”.
Our college is very cosy and spacious.
There is a large and light hall, a sport gym, a training room with sport heavy equipment on the ground floor.
Many subject classrooms, a rich library and a reading hall are situated on the second floor.
All the rooms of our college have modern equipment : computers, TV - sets, DVD - players and interactive boards.
Not far from the college it is a hostel.
It is a very comfortable and cosy four - stored building for the students.
Opposite the college it is a club and a canteen.
During the lunch - break we go there to have dinner.
Our periods begin at 8 o’clock and they are over at 1610.
Our period lasts 90 minutes.
As a rule, we have three or four periods every day.
We study many subjects at the college.
We attend lectures, seminars and have practice.
Some students who have only good and excellent marks get a scholarship.
We go to college five days a week.
Saturday and Sunday are our days off.
Our group consists of 25 students, including our monitor.
Some our groupmates live in our hostel.
As a rule, almost every student of our group comes to the college before the bell rings.
So we can have a chat with each other.
We usually have a lot of things to talk about.
After periods everybody goes home to do homeworks.
There are many different clubs and societies at our college.
I attend a sport club and a dance club.
At the end of each semester we have test, credit tests and exams.
When we have passed all the tests we start to prepare for the exams.
After the exams a vacation comes.
Now I can’t say that college life is a fascinating, fantastic experience.
For the moment I can compare it only with a daily routine.

I spend a lot of time at the college, that is why it's necessary to have a snack time there.
During the break i go to have lunch to our college canteen.
Its always full of people at this time, I go to the service counter and line up.
There is seif - service at our canteen.
Sometimes it takes quite a lot of time to stand in the line and i have to gulp me lunch in five minutes.
The choice of dishes in our is rather rich, the quality of food is good and the prices are reasonable.
To begin with, I usually have some salad — tomato and cucumber salad or mixed salad.
For the first course I have soup — fresh cabbage shchee, solyanka, pea soup or maybe some fish soup for a change.
For I the main course I have meat or chicken dishes, for example steak, meatballs or roast chicken with spaghetti or potatoes (mashed or fried).
For dessert I usually have fruit juice or a cup of tea with a bun.
I take them from the counter, put on my tray and go to the cashier's desk to pay the money.
Then I take a seat at any vacant table.
Besides the kitchen staff and the cashier two or three students on duty help to clear the plates and cups off the tables and to keep order in the canteen.

Hi!
My name is Amelia but my friends and my family call me Amy.
Do call me Amy!
I am in my first year at college now and last year I was at school likemy brother Christian (everybody calls him Chris).
I am 18 and Chris is 4 years my junior.
The other members of my family are our mother, father and grandfather.
Our grandmother died long ago.
Our parents are both college teachers and our grandpa has just retired on pension.
He was an engineer with a big company.
I can't say we are an ideal family but we always try to understand each other, and I think we get along well.
Our life is quite usual.
Our grandpa is the first to get upand the first to go to bed.
He likes to repeat "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise".
To tell the truth, he is not quite wealthy but he's healthy for his age (and he's 72!
), and he is very wise.
Our grandpa makes morning tea and that's all we do to have breakfast.
Cereal, toast, an apple or an orange and a cup of tea or coffee is quite enoughto feel fine till lunch.
I try to keep fit.
That's why I do exercises in the morning and go to the gymin the evening twice a week.
After morning exercises I brush my teeth, take a shower, have breakfast and leave home.
My college is a long way from our place and it takes me about an hour to get there.
Sometimes when my dad delivers a lectureat the beginning of the day, he gives me a lift.
It's very good as I can stay in beda little longer.
My classes begin at nine.
We study on weekdays.
Saturdays and Sundays are our days off.
Next year we'll have our first practice and work at weekends.
But this year I enjoy two days of rest a week.
In fact I can only relaxon Sundays as on Saturdays I always have some homework and housework to do.
We usually have four periods of classesa day.
After the second period we have a lunch break.
My friends and I like to go to the canteenor to the cafe nearby.
They always have very tasty vegetable salads there and we like to have lunch there thoughit is more expensive than in the canteen.
When our classes are over, we sometimes go to the gym.
As for me, I like to play table tennis there.
From tome to time after classes we do some scientificwork or organize parties or meetings.
I like it when evening comes and all my family gather at home.
We can't often meet at lunch or at tea time but we try to have evening meals together.
It's nice when nobody is in a hurryand we can discuss the day and make plans.
Later in the evening after doing everything for my college classes, I read a book or use the Internet.
It's the best time of the day!
At about 11 p.
M. I take a shower and airmy bedroom.
It's time to go to bed.

gymnasium and the swimming pool.
We like to

There are special classrooms for
Chemistry, Physics, Biology, History, Geography, English and Russian.
My English
classroom is on the second floor It has three big windows.
There are lots of potted
plants on the window sills, and we take good care of them.
The board in our
classroom is magnetic.
We write with markers on it and attach our projects to it with
magnets.
Next to the board there are maps of Russia
and Great Britain, various grammar tables and charts.
There is a computer in the right - hand corner We often
listen to original English texts, songs and watch films
on a big screen which make our lessons interesting
I like my college.
It provides us with everything
to help us become good specialists.
