There are lots of interesting and EXCITING professions, but which of them is the right choice for you?

Researchers who work in EDUCATION and sociology asked people across the UK what their dream job would be.

And the results were quite UNEXPECTED.

According to the survey, people find modest jobs like charity work or gardening the most ATTRACTIVE.

Often at the top of their list are jobs such as a nurse or a TEACHER.

The study also shows that people in the UK are very PRACTICAL and focus on the dream jobs they have a realistic chance of getting.

THE BEAUTIFUL PALACE?

THE BEAUTIFUL PALACE.

There was once a king who built a large and beautiful palace and gave it to his four children to live in.

The first brother to arrive took all the upstairs rooms for himself.

The first sister arrive took all the downstairs rooms for herself.

They spend much of their time arguing and fighting, because each one wanted to be in charge of the whole palace.

When the second brother and sister arrived, there were no rooms left for them.

''As I am very king''said the first brother to the younger one, ''I will give you one of my very own rooms if you do all the work in the fields, growing all the food.

''I am very kind, too, said the first sister to the younger one, ''so I will give you one of my very own rooms if you do all the cooking and cleaning and washing.

''Of course, the rooms offered were the smallest of the many rooms in the whole palace but the younger brother and sister had no choice if they wanted a roof over their heads.

So they worked all day long, growing the food, cooking, cleaning and washing.

They knew that this was not what their father had wanted for them, when he built the large and beautiful palace, because he loved all four of his children equally.

But the work was so hard that they were too tired to complain to their elder brother and sister.

When their elder brother saw the younger one become ill from overwork he said.

''I will give him some medicine to make him better.

I'm sure my father will be pleased with me for my kindness.

''When the elder sister saw the younger one was cold because her clothes were thin and worn out, she said.

''I will give her the black coat that has got too tight for me.

I'm sure my father will be pleased with me for my kindness.

'' Then, one day, when nobody was expected him, the king arrived at the palace to visit his children.

It was a little grey bird.

The man loved it dearly.

He took good care of it.

He gave it food and water every morning and every evening.

One day the old man was going to the shop to buy food.

He said to his wife : “ I’ll go to the shop to buy bread, salt, butter, spaghetti and sugar.

Please, take good care of the bird!

Give it food and water in the morning and in the evening!

“OK” said his wife.

“I will.

It was very cold.

The old man put on his warm trousers and boots, a sweater, an overcoat, a warm cap and went away.

The woman didn’t give the bird food or water in the morning.

She didn’t give the bird anything to eat or to drink in the evening.

The bird was very hungry and thirsty.

Suddenly the bird saw some bread on the table.

It ate some bread.

When the woman saw the bird eating the bread, she took the bird and threw it out of the window.

When the old man came home, he couldn’t see the bird.

“ Where is my bird?

he asked his wife.

“ Oh.

Where is my little bird?

Where is my dear little friend?

“I don’t know”, said his wife.

The old man went to the forest to look for his bird.

He walked, and walked, and walked.

He was very cold.

But he didn’t go back home – he was looking for his dear friend.

At last he saw his bird in a tree!

He was so happy!

He asked the bird to come back home, but the bird didn’t want to.

The bird said to the old man : “ Thank you very much.

You took good care of me.

But I will not go back home.

I don’t like your wife.

Then the bird put two baskets – one large and the other small – near the old man and said : “ Take the basket which you like best and go back home.

The old man thanked the bird, took the small basket and went home.

At home the old woman wanted to see what was in the basket.

They opened the basket and saw that it was full of gold.

The old man told his wife that the gold was the bird’s present.

“You are not clever!

I’m cleverer than you!

Tell me where your bird is!

I’ll go to see her.

But I’ll not take a small basket, I’ll take a large one.

And the old woman run to the forest.

She quickly took to the large basket and ran home.

She didn’t thank the bird.

When she was back home, she wanted to see what was in the basket and opened it quickly.

Peter's parents died when he was a child of 5.

He was brought up by his grandmother who

took great care of the child and did her best to make him happy.

But the boy was very shy and

One day he took his bicycle and went for a ride.

Suddenly he saw another cyclist in the

distance.

Soon he could see that the cyclist was a young girl.

As soon as the girl noticed Peter she

increased her speed as she didn't want Peter to catch up with her.

Suddenly Peter remembered that a

few yards ahead of them there was no road as the bridge across the river was under repairs.

Peter

realised that the girl would run a terrible risk in case she tried to cross the bridge.

He cried out to her

to stop, but it was too late.

The girl had reached the bridge and at once Peter saw her lose balance

and fall into the water together with her bicycle.

When Peter rode up he saw the girl holding on to a

board standing in the water.

Without a moment's hesitation he jumped into the water as he wanted

to help the girl.

The current under the bridge was very strong and Peter had to swim against it.

At

last he swam up to the board and saw the girl's frightened eyes looking at him with hope.

"Can you

swim?

" asked Peter but the girl shook her head.

Peter ordered the girl to hold on to his neck and they both started for the bank.

It was very

difficult for Peter to swim with such a burden and at moments it seemed to him that he could not

stand the strain and that they both would be drowned.

When they reached the bank, Peter was so

tired that he could hardly breathe.

When he came to himself he saw the girl looking at him with

"You are a real hero", she said.

"You are the bravest boy I've ever met", and she smiled.

And

it was at that moment that Peter felt a great confidence in himself.

He was afraid of nothing now, he

was able to overcome any difficulty.
