By the way we must be thankful to travellers because they brought tea, pepper, potatoes to us, they invented compass, the first cart.
There are many ways of travelling : by air, by sea, by car and finally on foot, - Each way of travelling has its own advantages, for example, travelling by air is the quickest and the the most convenient way of travelling.
Travelling by train is very popular with the people.
We can travel by a passenger train, a long distance and local train.
To my mind, it is pleasant to travel by train.
Travelling by train you can admire the beauty of Russian nature.
At present the network of railways is extremely great.
Railways connect different corners of our large country and we can even travel by train all across Siberia.
Travelling by sea is really wonderful.
It has many advantages : firstly you can have a rest from the hustle and bustle of the city, secondly you can breathe the fresh sea air and finally you can admire the beauty of the sea shore, the sunrise and the sunset on the sea.
Certainly many people are fond of travelling by car.
If I had a chance to travel by car I should not objeсt to it.
Travelling by car is one of the most pleasant things in the world for, on the one hand, you can choose some out of the way place where you can put up a tent and explore the places ground, on the other hand, you can work out your route yourself.
Travelling by car you can get to the places which are never visited by tourist.
Travelling on foot is wonderful too, because you come into contact with nature.
In a word any kind of travelling gives a lot to the people either it makes them healthier and stronger or widens their area of thoughts.

Travel grew and developed as long as means of transport kept on growing.
With the 19th century the age of modern trains came.
In the late 19th century the first motor - cars appeared.
The age of airplanes changed travel crucially.
In the early 20th century jet planes emerged.
They made air travel available to all people.
Air travel is the fastest and the most convenient mode of travel¬ling.
No place in the world is more than 24 hours away by jet.
In the 19th century tourism was mainly for the rich.
They had enough mon¬ey and spare time for travelling.
Not many working people in Europe had paid holidays.
Well - to - do people used to take tours to France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
They spent time at famous sea resorts in France.
They went to health resorts and spas of Germany for recreation and treatment.
They travelled to the resorts in the mountains of Switzerland and Austria.

It was nice to hear from you again.
I'm writing to tell you about my last day off.
It was the time of the week.
I went to the country with my parents.
It was warm and sunny.
First, l rode a bike and played with my friends.
Then we went to the river and had a picnic.
It was really fantastic!
Finally, l came home but l was so tired that l went to bed.
I slept very well and l was happy again in the morning.

The First Boomerang.
In the old times the sky was not as high above the Earth as it is today.
It was down to the earth, so all the people and animals were very short and small.
All the animals very unhappy : birds could not fly with their winds and kangaroos could not jump around.
Only snakes liked it because they could hint the birds for their food.
It never rained.
The trees were short and looked like yellow grass.
The Earth was like a desert, with no seas or oceans.
At that time there lived a hinter.
His name was Yondi.
One day he was in the forest.
He was very tired and could not walk any more.
In the end Yondi saw a little lake.
He liked it and wanted to spend some time there.
It was nice to sit and watch animals.
Yondi saw a very strange thing : when the animals came to the lake, they were ill and sad.
But after drank from it, they became strong and healthy.
Yondi was puzzled.
«What that?
Why do they look so different?
» he thought.
But after a short time he understood, « This water works like magic, so it can help me, too.
I must try.
»
The hunter jumped into the lake.
In the water he found a stick and took it in his hand.
When he got out of the water, he was strong and healthy.
He looked around and understood that he was getting taller and taller.
The stick was getting bigger and bigger, too.
After some time Yondi hit his head against the sky.
«Oh, no!
» he cried.
«I am too tall new!
I must push up the sky with this magic stick.
»
So he took his stick and started to push up the sky higher and higher.
He called his friends, animals, and they came to help him, too.
Only the snakes did not want to work with them and to push up the sky.
Do you know why?
Yondi because as tall as today people and pushed the sky up to the place where it is now.
Together with the sky, the sun and the stars also went up.
The water from the magic lake went up to the sun and… it started raining!
The magic water came down to the people, animal and trees and made them strong and healthy.
They started getting biggest and taller.
Small lakes became rivers, seas and oceans.
All the men and woman started dancing.
They said « thank you » to the great hunter Yondi.
His friends animals were happy, too.
The kangaroo started jumping around and forgot how to walk.
The birds learned to fly and sing beautiful songs.
Yondi looked at his magic stick and saw bent.
«I do not need it, » he thought and threw the stick away, but it came back!
That is how the first boomerang come to be.
