Almaty is the largest city of Kazakhstan, located in the South - East of the Republic of Kazakhstan, foothills of Zailiyskiy Alatau ; the city's population is about 1.

5 million inhabitants.

Though Almaty is not the capital of the Republic, the city remains financial, economic and cultural center of Central Asia.

It focused a large number of business centers, theaters, museums, art galleries, exhibition halls and countless modern entertainment complexes (cinemas, night clubs, parks, restaurants, cafes and much more) .

Almaty was the capital of Kazakhstan from 1929 to 1997 In accordance with the presidential decree "On declaring the capital of the Republic Astana", Almaty was given the status of city of Republican significance and the southern capital of the Republic, the largest financial, scientific and cultural center.

The residence of the head of state and the Government remained in the city.

Industry food and light industry are a prevailing share in the city's economy and account for more than 70% of industrial enterprises.

The heavy industry of Almaty presented by several engineering and repair factories.

Almaty has always been considered a city of gardens, surrounded by the magnificent Tian Shan spruces.
