15 предложений для пересказа Everywhere we go, we hear about the Internet.

It's on television, in magazines, newspapers, and in schools.

One might think that this network of millions of computers around the globe is as fast and captivating as television, but with more and more users logging on everyday and staying on longer and longer, this «Information Superhighway» could be perhaps more correctly referred to as an expressway of big city centre at rush hour.

It is estimated that thirty five to forty million users currently are on the Internet.

According to a recent statistics, an average Internet call lasts five times as longer as the average regular telephone call.

10 percent of the Internet calls last 6 hours or longer.

This can cause an overload and, in turn, cause telephone network to fail.

The local network was designed for short calls which you make and then hang up, but Internet calls often occupy a line for hours.

With so many users in the Internet and their number is growing by 200 percent annually, it certainly provides new challenges for the telephone companies.

The Internet, up to the beginning of the 90s, was used only to read a different texts.

Then in the early 90's, a way was made to see pictures and listen to a sound on the Internet.

This breakthrough made the Internet to be most demanded means of communication, data saving and transporting.

However, today's net is much more than just pictures, text, and sound.

The Internet is now filled with voice massages, video conferencing and video games.

With voice massages, users can talk over the Internet for the price of the local phone call.

Nowadays we no longer have to own a computer to access the Internet.

Now, - devices such as Web TV allow our television to browse the Web and use Electronic Mail.

Cellular phones are now also dialing up the Internet to provide E - mail and answering machine services.

The telephone network was not designed and built to handle these sorts of things.

Many telephone companies are spending enormous amounts of money to upgrade the telephone lines.

K. Kao and G.

Hockman were the first to come up with the idea of using fiber optic cables, as opposed to copper wire, to carry telephone signals.

Fiber optics uses pulses of light to transmit binary code, such as that used in computers and other electronic devices.

As a result the amount of bandwidth is incredibly raised.

Another solution for the problem is fast modems which satisfy the need for speed.

By accessing the Net through the coaxial cable that provides television to our homes, the speed can be increased 1, 000 fold.

However, the cable system was built to only send information one way.

In other words, they can send stuff to us, but we can't send anything back, if there is no modem available.

Yet another way is being introduced to access the Internet, and that is through the use of a satellite dish just like the TV dishes currently used to deliver television from satellites in space to your home.

However, like cable connection, the information can only be sent one way.

Faster ways of connecting to the Internet may sound like a solution to the problem, but, just as new lanes on highways attract more cars, a faster Internet could attract many times more users, making it even slower than before.

To help solve the problem of Internet clogs, Internet providers are trying new ways of pricing for customers.

So, in business time any connection to Net cost more than your connection in the night.

In conclusion, I should add that if we want to keep the Internet usable and fairly fast, we must not only improve the telephone lines and means of access, but also be reasonable in usage.

The Influence of the Internet.

Bad or Good?

Everybody knows that getting information is one of daily necessities of a human being.

We can learn much about the world by reading newspapers and magazines, listening to the radio and by watching TV.

So the people can't do without mass media — press, radio, television, and of course, the Internet.

So as Winston Churchill said knowledge is power.

That’s why, I would like to speak about influence of Internet in our life.

Bad or Good?

Internet is one of the most important kind of mass media it takes 16% of mass media.

Spam, lies, deceitfulness, and identity theft are all bad influences of the internet.

Also, scores of vicious cyber - terrorists hack the government and civilian computers on the Internet in order to satisfy their own greedy needs.

It’s not just hackers who have bad influences though.

Innocent people such as teenagers have bad influences as well.

Some will prove that the internet separates the young people from the real world.

Sure they have access to news and all, but the internet doesn’t help the youngsters with their social skills.

Nowadays, people tend to interact with their friends primarily online (Facebook, Twitter, MSN, MySpace, etc.

) They are all friendly and nice on their Facebook chat, but when they meet each other in the hallway of their school, they don’t do anything more than saying, “Hi.

” Teenagers can lose feeling of real life relationships and have difficulty communicating in reality.

There are more and more people became captivated by its hypnotic power and use it not on purpose.

So for example 53% of teenagers visit social networks several hours a day, 15% visit them in all their free time, 26% visit social networks several times a week and only 6% never visit social networks.

The primary danger of social networks is that it distracts our attention from reality and solving real life problems.

Another problem is that people become addicted to social networks.

Many people can’t imagine your life without them.

They have become much less read and talk in real life.

All their free time they spend in social networks.

Little by little internet cuts us from the real world and we must understand that there are many other life values.

However, there is a bright side to using the internet.

Students use the Net simply for schoolwork, education, online shopping.

The Internet has made it easy to spread new ideas, hence putting globalization in effect.

Also, the Web has made it easier for kind - hearted computer geeks to access and fix other people’s computers from a remote location.

Lastly, people use the Internet to communicate with their friends, family, and relatives.

Communication software such as Skype, FaceTime, and iChat has made it possible for parents to see their children who are off in college, or for a teenager to see his life - long friend who’s on the other side of the planet.

As you can see, the amount of bad influences is about the same as the amount of good influences.

You can also look at it this way : the amount of bad influences does not outweigh the amount of good influences.

For those who are pessimistic, please notice that there are good things in this world.

The world does not have to be a sad dark place.

For those who are optimistic, please accept the fact that there are some bad things in this world.

This world was once perfect but men have corrupted it, so it’s bound to have good things as well as bad things.

So in conclusion, is the influence of the internet good?

It’s both good and bad.

The answer to this question cannot be one solid “Yes” or “No”.

There are bad influences as well as good influences, but one does not outweigh the other.

Humans created the World Wide Web to connect people and to put it to use so that others can benefit.

What do we do now with this new - found knowledge?

Well, we can try to be good people and help others enjoy the Web, instead of letting them be repelled by it.

We can also strive to use the internet for good purposes instead of bad purposes.

INTERNET ACCESS?

INTERNET ACCESS.

Public places to use the Internet include libra ries and Internet cafes, where computers with Internet connections are available.

There are also Internet access points in many public places like airport halls, in some cases just for brief use while standing.

Many hotels now also have public terminals.

There have been experiments with proprietary mobile wireless networks like Ricochet, various high - speed data services over cellular or mobile phone networks, and fixed wireless services.

These services have not enjoyed widespread success due to their high cost of deployment, which is passed on to users in high usage fees.

Countries where Internet access is available to a majority of the population include Germany, India, China, Chile, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Italy, Australia, Denmark, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea and Norway.

The use of the Internet around the world has been growing rapidly over the last decade, although the growth rate seems to have slowed somewhat after 2000.

The phase of rapid growth is ending in industrialized countries, as usage becomes widespread there, but the expansion continues in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East.

However, there are still problems for many.

ADSL and other broadband access are rare or nonexistent in most developing countries.

Even in developed countries, high prices, unsatisfactory performance and access restrictions often limit its uptake.

Within individual countries, wide differences may exist between larger cities (often having multiple providers of broadband access) and some rural areas, where no broadband access may be available at all.

Read the text and say if the following statements are true or false.

True False 1.

There are Internet access points in many public places.

2. Internet connections are available there just for brief use.

3. High - speed data services over mobile phones have enjoyed widespread success.

4. The users of Internet have to pay high usage fees.

5. Expansion of Internet continues around the world at the same rate.

6. Rapid growth of Internet usage is ending in Africa .

7. In Germany majority of the population doesn’t have Inet access.

8. Growth rate of Internet usage in the world slowed after 2000.

9. Unsatisfactory performance limits often uptake of the Internet.

10. Wide differences in access may exist between larger cities and some rural areas.

Everybody knows that the Internet is a global computer network, which embraces hundred of millions of users all over the world and helps us to communicate with each other.

The history of Internet began in the United States in 1969.

It was a military experiment, designed to help to survive during a nuclear war, when everything around might be polluted by radiation and it would be dangerous to get out for any living being to get some information to anywhere.

Information sent over the Internet takes the shortest and safest path available from one computer to another.

Because of this, any two computers on the net will be able to stay in touch with each other as long as there is a single route between them.

This technology was called packet switching.

Invention of modems, special devices allowing your computer to send the information through the telephone line, has opened doors to the Internet for millions of people.

Most of the Internet host computers are in the United States of America.

It is clear that the accurate number of users can be counted fairly approximately, nobody knows exactly how many people use the Internet today, because there are hundred of millions of users and their number is growing.

Nowadays the most popular Internet service is e - mail.

Most of the people use the network only for sending and receiving e - mail messages.

They can do it either they are at home or in the internet clubs or at work.

Other popular services are available on the Internet too.

It is reading news, available on some dedicated news servers, telnet, FTP servers, etc.

In many countries, the Internet could provide businessmen with a reliable, alternative to the expensive and unreliable telecommunications systems its own system of communications.

Commercial users can communicate cheaply over the Internet with the rest of the world.

When they send e - mail messages, they only have to pay for phone calls to their local service providers, not for international calls around the world, when you pay a good deal of money.

But saving money is only the first step and not the last one.

There is a commercial use of this network and it is drastically increasing.

Now you can work through the internet, gambling and playing through the net.

However, there are some problems.

The most important problem is security.

When you send an e - mail, your message can travel through many different networks and computers.

The data is constantly being directed towards its destination by special computers called routers.

Because of this, it is possible to get into any of the computers along the route, intercept and even change the data being sent over the Internet.

But there are many encoding programs available.

Notwith - standing, these programs are not perfect and can easily be cracked.

Another big and serious problem of the net is control.

Yes, there is no effective control in the ^ Internet, because a huge amount of information circulating through the net.

It is like a tremendous library and market together.

In the future, the situation might change, but now we have what we have.

It could be expressed in two words— an anarchist's dream.

Computers have had a great impact on society.

Today computers are constantly becoming a part of everyday life.

Computers are used in everything from the home PC or laptop to appliances such as microwaves and even our cars.

Not only have computers had a great impact on our everyday life, but also on education and the workplace.

Computers are used in our appliances, mobile phones, entertainment devices (such as DVD players) and others.

It is almost impossible to get through one day without having some form of interaction with computers.

The Internet has had a huge impact on society.

It provides information and services, as well as the ability to communicate people all around the world in variety of ways.

These range from bulletin boards and chat rooms to voice conversations and video conferencing.

Around the world, the Internet is available to millions of people.

Those who don’t have computer or access to the Internet at home will often have access at work or school, or even at the local library.

Another added bonus of the Internet is that the majority of the information and services available are free.

The use of computers for educational purposes has been highly beneficial for those involved.

From a primary school level, children are taught the basics of computer use, including the Internet.

At high school, this continues as children become more and more proficient in using the computer.

It is a tertiary level though, that computers really come into use.

News, assignments, tests, lecture notes etc.

Can be placed on the Internet for stu - dents who live in remote areas and cannot travel to and from university or other tertiary institution each day.

The idea of remote learning can also be applied to a primary school level.

Computers impact every part of our lives.

From the home, to the workplace and in education, computers aid us to do what we want.

In general, computers are beneficial to the tasks they are applied to.

Although computers can cause some problems, such as unemployment and computer viruses, these are far outweighed by the benefits computers provide.

Because of this, computers and technology will continue to have an increasing effect on society.

Общий, Разделительный, Альтернативный, Специальный What is internet Internet?

Internet is a global network connecting millions of computers.

More that 100 countries are linked into exchanges of data, news and opinions.

Each internet computer, called a host, is independent.

Its operators can choose which internet services to use.

The internet is not synonymous with world wide web.

What Is a host A host is a computer system that is accessed by a user when there are two computer systems connected by modems and telephone lines.

The computer system that contains the data is called the host, and the computer at which the user sits is called the remote terminal.

What is world wide web?

A system of internet servers that support specially formatted documents.

The documents are formatted in a markup language called HTML( hypertext markup language) that supports links to other documents, as well as graphics, audio, and video files.

This means you can jump from one document to another simply by clicking the mouse button.

There are several applications called web browsers that make it easy to access the world wide web.

Two of the most popular browsers are Netscape Navigator and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

What is the Difference Between the Internet are the World Wide Web?

Many people use the terms INTERNET and World Wide Web (or simply the Web) interchangeably, but in fact the two terms are not synonymous.

The Internet and the Web are two separate but related things.

The Internet connects millions of computers together globally, forming a network in which any computer can communicate with any other computer as long as they are both connected to the Internet.

Information travels over the Internet in many languages known as protocols.

The World Wide Web, or simply Web is built on top the internet.

The Web also utilizes browsers, such as internet explorer or netscape, to access Web documents called web pages.

Web documents also contain graphics, sounds, text and video.

The web is just one of the ways that information can be sent and received over the internet.

Internet is used for e - mail, not the web.

So the web is just a portion of the internet, but the two terms are not synonymous and should not be confused.
