Meters Among the most common meters used there are the ohmmeter, the ammeter and the voltmeter.

The ohmmeter is used to measure the value of resistance.

It consists of a milliammeter calibrated to read in ohms, a battery and resistors.

The meter is connected in parallel and the circuit is not opened when its resistance is measured.

The readings on the scale show the measured value.

The ammeter is used to measure the value of current.

When the ammeter is used the circuit should be opened at one point and the terminals of the meter should be connected to it.

One should take into consideration that the positive terminal of the meter is connected to the positive terminal of the source ; the negative terminal - to the negative terminal of the source.

The ammeter should be connected in series.

The readings on the scale show the measured value.

The body should provide protection to the passengers from wind, cold and rain.

Thus to shape a car means to do it in such a way that it offers small resistance to the air.

Brakes are necessary for stopping the car.

Most braking systems used today are hydraulic.

A It _______formed by seven cervical vertebrae.

THE SKELETON.

The skeleton is composed of bones.

In the adult the skeleton has over 200 bones.

The bones of the skull consist of cranial and facial parts.

There are 26 bones in the skull.

The bones of the trunk are the spinal column or the spine and the chest (ribs and breastbone).

The spine consists of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae and the coccyx.

The vertebra is the small bone, which is formed by the body and the arch.

All the vertebrae compose the spinal column or the spine.

There are 32 or 34 vertebrae in the spine of the adult.

There are seven cervical vertebrae, twelve thoracic vertebrae, five lumbar, five sacral vertebrae and from one to five vertebrae which form the coccyx in the spinal column.

The cervical part of the spine is formed by seven cervical vertebrae.

Twelve thoracic vertebrae have large bodies.

The lumbar vertebrae are the largest vertebrae in the spinal column.

They have oval bodies.

The chest (thorax) is composed of 12 thoracic vertebrae, the breastbone and 12 pairs of ribs.

The breastbone is the long bone in the middle of the chest.

It is composed of three main parts.

The basic part of the chest is formed by the ribs.

On each side of the chest seven ribs are connected with the breastbone by cartilages.

The cartilages of three other ribs are connected with each other and with the seventh rib.

But the cartilages of these ribs are not connected with the breastbone.

The eleventh and the twelfth ribs are not connected with the breastbone either.

They are not connected with other ribs, they are free.

Each rib is composed of a head, neck and body.

The lower extremity consists of the thigh, leg and foot.

It is connected with the trunk by the pelvis.

The upper extremity is formed by the arm, forearm and hand.

It is connected with the trunk by the shoulder girdle.

The bones of the skeleton are connected together by the joints or by the cartilages and ligaments.

The bones consist of organic and inorganic substance.

И ответить на вопросы ALTERNATING CURRENT Current is defined as increment of electrons.

The unit for measuring current was named in honor of A.

M. Ampere, the French physicist.

Thus it is called ampere.

The symbol for current is I.

The electric current is a quantity of electrons flowing in a circuit per second of time.

The electrons move along the circuit because the e.

M. f.

Drives them.

The current is directly proportional to the e.

M. f.

A steam of electrons in a circuit will develop a magnetic field around the conductor along which the electrons are moving.

The strength of the magnetic field depends upon the current strength along the conductor.

The direction of the field is dependant upon the direction of the current.

If the force causing the electron flow is indirect, the current is called direct (d.

C. ).

If the force changes its direction periodically the current is called alternative (a.

C. ).

Alternating current is the current that changes direction periodically.

The electrons leave one terminal of the power supply, flow out along the conductor, stop, and then flow back toward the same terminal.

168 A voltage that caused current reverses its polarity periodically.

This is properly called an alternating voltage.

The power supply that provides the alternating voltage actually reverses the polarity of its terminals according to a fixed periodic pattern.

A given terminal will be negative for a specific period of time and drive electrons out through the circuit.

Then, the same terminal becomes positive and attracts electrons back from the circuit.

This voltage source cannot be a battery.

It must consist of some types of rotating machinery = 1300.

[email  ; protected] Answer the questions : 1.

Why do electrons move along the circuit?

2. What does the strength of the magnetic field depend upon?

3. What is alternating current?

4. What is an alternating voltage?

We speak of the upper

extremities (arms) and the lower extremities (legs).

The head consists of two parts : the skull which contains the brain, and the face

the chin.

In the mouth there are gums with teeth, the tongue and the palate.

The head is connected with the trunk by the neck.

The upper part of the trunk is the

The principle organs in the chest are the

lungs, the heart and the gullet (esophagus).

We breathe with the lungs.

The heart

contracts and makes 60 - 80 beats per minute.

The principle organs in the abdominal cavity are the stomach, the liver, the spleen,

the intestine, the kidneys, the gall - bladder and the bladder.

The framework of the bones is called the skeleton ; it supports the soft parts and

The bones are covered with muscles.

The upper extremity is connected with the chest by the shoulder.

We have four fingers and a thumb

on each hand.

The lower extremity (the leg) consists.
