Most schools in Russia have numbers, not names, and in some school students wear uniforms.

Every school has got classrooms , a gym , a computer room, a library and a canteen.

Students have 4 - 5 lessons a day and the subjects they have are : Russian, Maths, English, Nature Study, Computer Study, Art, Handicraft and PE.

During the breaks the children play games and relax.

After the lessons some students stay at school and do homework with their teachers because their parents are at work.

Hi, my name is Marina Smirnova.

I'm 12 years old and I live in the beautiful town of St Petersburg.

My daily routine is typical of most students my age.

I get up at 7 : 00 am and after a quick breakfast I walk to school.

School starts at 8 : 00 am and finishes at 2 : 00pm from Monday to Friday.

There are 30 students in my class and every day we have 6 - 7 lessons.

Each lesson lasts 45 minutes with a 10 - minute break in between.

My favourite lessons are history and maths.

They are both very interesting.

We have lunch in the school canteen during the longer break in the afternoon.

We have many exciting things to do at school after classes.

On Tuesday and Thursday I have guitar lessons.

After school I go home and eat a snack before I start on my homework.

We always have lots of homework to do and it usually takes me 2 - 3 hours to finish it.

Around 6 o'clock in the evening, I have dinner with my family.

I enjoy this time because on weekdays it's the only chance we have to relax and be together as a family.

After dinner, I usually watch TV.

I like watching Sports and Music shows.

Sometimes I play a game of chess with my father.

Most nights I go to bed at 10 : 30pm and read for a while before I go to sleep.

The bus takes us to the school, while we are busy talking, singing, reading or throwing things at each other.

Then we go into school, go to our classroom, to register with our class teacher and receive any general information concerning the school before going off to the first lesson.

The first break is at about half past ten, when we can go outside to meet our friends for twenty minutes, and talk or play some kind of game.

Then come the next two lessons, and then another break for dinner.

At dinnertime the school hall is laid out with tables and chairs, and we queue up at a serving hatch, where we can order any of a number of different foods.

Next we pay for the food at a separate counter, and then go off to sit down and eat.

After dinner we have two more lessons before we go home.

When I get home I usually go up to my room and listen to music or read, or take the dog out, and after an hour or so have supper.

After that I either do my homework if I have any, or go to visit one of my friends and we play or listen to music together.

I go to school every day.

Here is my school day : school starts at 8 : 55 am.

My lessons start at 9 : 20 am.

At 10 : 20 am we have break time.

After break time we have one lesson.

A 12 : 00 am we have lunch time.

We eat snacks that we bring from home.

In the afternoon, lessons start at 1 : 10 pm and at 3 : 15 pm we go home.

My favourite subjects are Music and Art.

I find English lessons easy.

Science is easy, too.

And I'm good at PE.

But I hate Maths lessons, homework and tests!

Omar’s day

My name is Omar and I’m nine.

I come from Kazakhstan and I live in London now.

I go to school.

I get up at half past seven in the morning and I have breakfast at eight o’clock.

School starts at nine and we have seven lessons every day.

We learn English, French, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Art, Computer studies and Home Economics.

I like Maths and English but I don’t like History.

Lunch is at one o’clock.
