Oxford street is a very big and popular shopping centre in London.

There are clothes shops and shoe shops, book shops and dress shops.

One of the largest department srores in Oxford street is Selfridges.

It has more than 300 departments on 6 floors, 2500 employees (people who work there) and every day more than 100 000 people from all over the world walk its doors, eat in its 5 restaurants and use its four lifts and three escalators.

In the early days there were gardens on the roof and many people came and looked at the famous Selfridges lifts.

Today it is famous for its window displays at Christmas.

Selfridges is a very expensive department store, that is why most Londoners have to go to cheaper shops : Marks and Spencer’s for clothes and supermarkets for food.

Supermarkets have become very popular with shoppers.

They sell not only food, but also ready made clothes, toys and other goods.

They are self - service shops.

Shopping in britan

One of the features of London is the number of big stores, most of which are to be found in or near the West End.

These stores are a mixture of tradition and modernity.

They developed in the nineteenth century.

Oxford Street, Regent Street and Knightsbridge are all known for their famous sores.

There are different types of shops in London.

They are department stores, shopping outlets, supermarkets and corner shops.

The traditional British shops are corner shops.

A corner shop is a small shop, usually on the corner of the street, that sells mainly food and household goods.

They can be different.

They are sweet shop, a stationer's, a greengrocer's, a butcher's, a dairy shop, a florist's, a baker's, a grocer's, fishmonger's, a confectioner's and so on.

A shopping outlet is a shop which sells the goods made by a particular manufacture.

A departiment store is a large shop which is divided into a lot of different sections and which sells many different kinds of goods.

The most popular among them are Herrods( it has departments ), Marks and Spencer, Selfridges and C& ; A.

Most of the food stories, called supermarkets, have the self - service system : you walk round the shop and choose what you want.

Tesco is the largest followed by Sainsbury's .

The largest bookshop in London are Dillos and Foyle's.

People do shopping almost every day.

When people want to buy something, they go to shops where various goods are sold.

Through the shop - window we can see what is sold in this or that shop.

Big supermarkets self - service shop.

Customers can buy all the necessary foodstuffs there : bead, milk, meat, fish, grocery, sausages, sweets, vegetables and fruit.

When customers come into shop, they take a food backed and choose the products they want to buy.

When they put everything they want into the basket they come up to the cashier’s desk.

There is a computer with a laser scanner that reads and sums up the prices on packed goods at the cashier’s desk.

The saleswoman tells how much to pay.

The customers pay the money and leave the shop.

At the grocer’s you can buy sugar, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, ham, bacon, sausages, frankfurters and so on.

Bread is sold at the baker’s, meat at the butcher’s.

We go to the greengrocer’s for vegetables and fruit.

Cakes and sweets are sold at the confectioner’s.

When we want to buy clothes, we go to men’s and ladies clothes shop.

We buy boots and shoes at the footwear shop.

We buy jewelry at the jeweler’s.

We buy books at the bookseller’s.

Some shops may departments.

These shops are called department stores or supermarkets.

Supermarkets are self - service stores with departments for different food products.

Supermarkets sell thousands of food products : meat, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, canned groceries, bakery items, delicatessen items, and frozen foods.

Some supermarkets also have seafood and alcohol.

The supermarkets are located in shopping centres or malls and along main roads.

Supermarkets are popular because they save time, have low prices and variety of products in one place.

There you can buy almost everything you need.

These shops are called self - service shops because there are no salespersons there but only cashiers at the cash desks.

The customers choose the goods they want to buy and pay for them at the cash desk.

Every year there is a very big Christmas tree in the centre of London, in Trafalgar Square.

This is a present from the people of Norway to the people of Great Britain.

They send it to Londoners every year and Londoners decorate the Christmas tree.

In the evening before Christmas people like to come to Trafalgar Square to look at the tree.

On Christmas Eve the streets in London are decorated, too.

The shops are very busy at Christmas.

People want to buy presents for their family and friends (for their nearest and dearest).

And they buy a lot of food and drink for all the Christmas parties.

People open their presents on Christmas morning and they all are happy with what they get.

For Christmas lunch people eat turkey, potatoes and green vegetables.

Then they have the Christmas pudding.

At five o’clock it’s time for tea and Christmas cake.

On Christmas people wish their nearest and dearest a merry Christmas.

The day after Christmas is Boxing Day.

People usually visit their relatives and friends.

They do not work at that day.

Life in a big city and in the country.

In the big city is good to live because everything around you, shops, museums, cinemas and more.

Very close and convenient to everything.

And in a big city there are many options for recreation and relax.

But in big city there are many problems, such as there is always noise, a lot of garbage in big cities are very great prices.

The village is a very good thing that everything is calm and quiet there are no trails.

On the bad thing is that it is very far to go to the shops is very far.

I love to live not in very large cities where there is a school and the right things even more entertaining, and things like movies, shopping and more but with no runs and big noise from cars and dirt.

Quiet a few people place on the nature and near the town.

Помогите сделать литературный перевод, не из переводчика I always buy my clothes from the shopping centre?

Помогите сделать литературный перевод, не из переводчика I always buy my clothes from the shopping centre.

There are lots of different shops there and you can usually find some special offers so the clothes don't have to be expensive.

They also have the latest fashions and the right colours.

It's important to look right.

I don't want anyone laughing at me because of my clothes.

The clothes are also good quality and you know that, if there's a problem, we can take clothes back.

The shop will still be there the next week.

People in the market might not be.

There are other reasons for shopping there.

It doesn't matter if it's raining, snowing or very hot outside.

The shopping centre is always dry and warm - not like the market.

The shop assistants are usually friendly and helpful.

They help you choose the right styles and colours for you but they don't make you buy things that you're not sure about.

You can take your time.

The other thing I like about the shopping centre is that it isn't just a place to shop.

You can eat and drink at one of the restaurants or just sit and watch the people coming and going.

Getting there is also nice and easy.

There are buses that stop outside the front door and a big, free car park.
