Текст : Many countries bury and forget about millions of tons of rubbish every year.
It is known that in one year, a European family with two children throws away about 50 kilos of paper (that`s six trees), and about 60 kilos of plastic.
The Green World reports say that in one year the average person throws away : about 70 food cans, 34 cans of pet food and about 70 drink cans.
But we don`t have to trow away all our waste paper, glass, metal and plastic.
We can also burn or recycle a lot of it.
In fact waste can be wonderful stuff.
Many things that we throw away can still be useful.

Old newspapers are usually made into new newsprint (the paper used in newspapers), egg cartons or paperboard.
Unlike most other recyclables, paper cannot be recycled over and over again, as the fibres eventually become too weak and short to be used again.
How to save paper • Don't throw away magazines or newspapers.
Use them to clean the windows.
• Keep paper that is printed on one side only.
The blank side can be used to scribble messages, shopping lists, etc.
• Share magazines and newspapers with friends or borrow them from the library.
• Tear out pages from old magazines to line the shelves of a shoe cabinet, for example.
• Use old magazines to make confetti with a hole punch.

At school the unusual weather sparked off a discussion about environmental changes and the teacher told us about the importance of keeping our environment clean and ways of doing this.
For example, car exhaust fumes and smoke from factories pollute our air and the main causes of Dumping industrial waste contaminates seas, kills marine animals and fish.
Actually, each and every one of us can protect nature.
We should use materials that can be recycled, and not use aerosol cans that damage the ozone layers.
We should also use more public transport and try to generate minimum amounts of waste.
So, we decided to take immediate action.
We went to a nearby forest and cleared it of paper, cans, plastic bags and other rubbish that had been carelessly thrown away there.
It`s awful how short - sighted people are when leaving garbage in the forest.
They just don`t realise that we have to protect nature.
We also took along some food for the animals and birds so that it would be easier for them to survive the winter.
