Do you know where the Hawaiian islands are& ; Do you know what country they belong to?

The are in the central part of the Pacific Ocean and belong to the United States of America.

Hawaii became the 50th state of the USA in 1959 Captain cook found these islands just a few years after he discovered Australia.

He put these islands on the map and gave them a name.

The famous Rocky Mauntains in the USA begin near Denver in Colorado and go up into Canada.

South of the Rocky Mountains there are many beautiful canyons.

Do you know what a canyon is?

It is a deep narrow valley.

One of the biggest canyons in the world is the Grand Canyon in Arizona.

The United States of America is the worlds fourth largest country?

The United States of America is the worlds fourth largest country.

Only Russia, Canada and China have bigger territories than US.

There are fifty states in the country.

Forty - eight are in the same part on North America.

The other two are Alaska in the north and Hawaii situated on eight island in the Pacific.

The United States stretches from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean which wach the country in the west and in the east.

Long mountain chains run down the Pasific coast.

In this part of the country is Death Valley the lowest place in North and South Americas.

Here too is the Grand Canyon which the Colorado River made millions of years ago.

In some places it is about 6 km deep.

Father east lie the tall peaks of the Rocky Mountains that run from Canada to Mexico.

Beyond them stretcn the Great Plains where the mighty Mississippi River flows.

Another mountain chain the Appalachians runs down the eastern part of the United States.

The USA borders on Canada in the north where the five Great Lakes are situared and Mexico in the South.

There are fifty States in the United States of America .

Two of these States , Alaska and Hawaii .

The USA is washed by the Pacific ocean on the West, Atlantic ocean on the East , the Caribbean sea and the Gulf of Mexico in the South.

The US has almost all kinds of weather.

In addition, it has many kinds of land - rocky coasts , dry empty deserts , big rivers , wide plains and grasslands , lakes of all sizes , high mountains , great forests , Sunny beaches, lands of endless winter .

More than 250 million people live in the United States .

There are many parks , forests and wildlands where you can enjoy the beauty and power of wild America.

The Grand Canyon , Yosemite , and Yellowstone are among the most famous .

Many rivers cross the United States .

But the greatest is the mighty Mississippi.

Native Americans call him the "father of waters".

It begins quietly in the North and ends in the Gulf of Mexico , nearly four thousand milesl ( 6400 km) away.
